How to Become
a Caretaker
As a part of Dr. Loren Michael Mortimer’s Introduction to Native American history course, ASJ Artist Fellow Bird Harris worked with students to create an art exhibit that honored Mvskoke Land – the indigenous land that Emory University sits on.
The exhibit featured pieces that incorporated materials from the land, such as clay from Decatur, soil from Baker Woods and Lullwater Preserve, and pokeberry pigments. The finished pieces were exhibited at Emory’s White Hall building, alongside the 2023 ASJ project showcase.
