Lydia Fort

Lydia Fort is an Assistant Professor in Theater Studies at Emory University, an award-winning theatre director and an arts leader. Her work focuses on the intersection of performance, social change and the environment. She is the co-founder of Atlanta Green Theatre Alliance (AGTA) and a founding member of Climate Commons.  Ms. Fort is an alum of Creative Climate Leadership, an international group of artists and cultural workers, and artEquity’s National Facilitation Training for DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion). Lydia is also an affiliated faculty for the PhD African American Studies Program, co-leader for the Inclusive Excellence: Art & Social Justice workshop and the Piedmont Project. She teaches courses on Eco-theatre, directing, African American drama, August Wilson, and play analysis. She has hosted Climate Change Theatre Action, and “Theatre and the Environment: Representations of Climate Change on Stage” events on campus. MFA in directing, University of Washington
